SUNGLASSES Worth Investing In

SUNGLASSES Worth Investing In

One would think this post would be best written BEFORE summer started, not when it’s just about to end. But since I live in Colorado where we have over 300 sunny days a year, I’ve found that I wear sunglasses more in the WINTER than the Summer. Crazy, right? Well, not so crazy after you experience a Colorado winter! After we get our snowfall and the sun comes out, the glare off the snow is so insane that you absolutely NEED to have good sunglasses. And fashionable ones too! I mean, c’mon, let’s get real!
I’ve put together a ‘picture article’ of some of my own personal favorites, as well as a surprise page (to me at least), of shades that I just discovered and want to try that are surprisingly pretty affordable compared to a lot of Designer styles.
My first showcase includes one of my ‘go-to’ Designers – Yves Saint Laurent or YSL. I absolutely love YSL and if they weren’t so expensive, I would certainly own more than I do. The ‘cat eye’ style has been around for awhile now and it doesn’t appear to be going anywhere soon, so I’m going to finally embrace it. The ‘cat eye’ styles by YSL range anywhere from $250 to $1,200! I think if I were to buy a pair, I’d lean more towards the $250 side. I am loving the Aviators by YSL as well though. Those are currently about $425 at Nordstrom right now. I’ve also included some other Designer styles like Valentino, Gucci, and MIU MIU, as well. Who doesn’t love a little Gucci in their lives, right?!

This next set includes some different styles by Burberry, Fendi, Jimmy Choo, MIU MIU, ACNE Studios, and QUAY (pronounced KEY – an Australian company who makes very good, quality sunglasses). I have tried these sunglasses on and they are good quality and they have some really nice styles. If you are one to lose or break your sunglasses a lot, then QUAY is a good brand for you. These range anywhere from under $30 (on sale) to about $60-$65. I saw one pair for $80. There is a large selection at Nordstrom or Nordstrom Online. I’ve also tried on the Burberry Sunglasses (red pair on top left), and I love them! They come in black as well, as shown, but the red pair was very cool! It’s a deeper, darker red, not a bright cherry red too. These can also be found at Nordstrom or Nordstrom Online for only $220 currently, which I didn’t think was too bad for Burberry. I’m still strongly thinking about getting them. But just wait and read a little further….

At some point in my life, I’ve always owned one or two pairs of sunglasses from the designers below. If you don’t like snakes or snake accessories, then you may not like Roberto Cavalli’s Sunglasses. He has a very edgy style, and I also have a very edgy style, so I absolutely love him! I own a pair of aviators right now by Roberto Cavalli that I just love. Most of his sunglasses are fairly big, so it can be difficult to find a pair if you have a small face frame, which I do. But I was able to find one that worked with some snake details on the side. They are very cool (2nd pic below)! These designers below can be quite expensive, but you can find some great prices at places like Nordstrom Rack and SaksOffFifth.

This next set includes some that most of you have now, or have at least owned in the past – Good ole Ray-Ban! I actually never owned a pair of Ray-Ban’s until this last year or so when I bought my first pair, which were aviators. I got the smaller, gold frame with the blue/brown gradient lens, and I love them (2nd pic below). They fit great, they have tons of colors and styles/sizes, and they keep your eyes protected while still making you look great! These are great for a ‘sporty, laid-back’ look. I also purchased my first pair of Kate Spade Sunglasses last year that I love. They are black and a little more on the ‘plainer’ side, if you will, but I wanted a pair that looked a little more classy that I could wear when I was more dressed up (3rd pic below). Ted Baker is one of my FAVORITE clothing and purse designers, and he also makes a small selection of sunglasses. I have yet to try a pair, but I included him because if his sunglasses are even half as good as his clothing and purse designs are, then I’ll be happy! He has a very eclectic style and uses lots of bold colors usually. If you haven’t checked him out before, then you need to do it now. That’s right, now! Well…. finish reading this first and then look him up!😉

I saved this last showcase for last. And I don’t even have a lot of solid evidence yet that I’m going to like Le Spec Sunglasses, but they have gotten great reviews and are a celebrity favorite. I first saw these celeb favorites on models GiGi and Bella Hadid, and I thought they looked kind of retro cool. I then saw them on Olivia Palermo and the Jenner sisters, as well as lots of other celebrities, so I started looking into them. It turns out that they are part of a collaboration by Adam Selman and Le Spec. I initially thought they would be extremely expensive because I was seeing celebrities wearing them, but they are actually quite affordable… The most expensive pair I’ve seen is about $120! So the jury is still out on these for me. I’m going to purchase two pairs that I found for pretty good prices, and I’ll have to do a little edit to let you know what I think or if they even look good on me..

EDIT: I received my Adam Spelman x Le Specs Sunglasses (blue pair on left below). I really like them, but wasn’t sure if they were too big for my face at first. But the more I look at them, the more I like them… Quite a lot actually! So much so that I might want to get another color… possibly white? I know I don’t look like the models below, but I don’t want to look like them. I want to look like me! What do you think?

I hope you enjoyed my post about Sunglasses. I know I put up a lot of pictures of a lot of different designers, styles, etc., but if want to know where to find any of these, just leave me a comment and I’ll find them and respond to you!
Thanks for reading!
